Tarot card reading
Even though there are many different ways to do tarot card reading, it is recommend that you have a method that you stick with each time. This allows you to think more about the subject, cards and the meaning thereof.
There are seven basic steps when it comes to tarot reading. These are rituals, shuffling, selecting, turning, reading, discussion and refining.
The rituals of tarot card reading are a very important part of tarot reading. These rituals will be unique to you and will be something you do each time before your start with a tarot reading. You may want to sleep with your cards under your pillow or wrap your deck in a beautiful cloth. Keep your rituals consistent every time. Another ritual might include saying an affirmation before starting with a tarot card reading.
When you shuffle, always do so face-down. This makes sure that no one sees the cards. Don't try any fancy tricks while shuffling. There are various ways that you can use to shuffle, but the main aim is to keep maximum hand contact while doing little damage to the cards.
Once you have shuffled the deck, spread the cards in a line above the area you will use for the layout. Make sure they are face down. Once your subject choses a tarot card slide it to the first position in your layout. Make sure to keep it vertical and then add the new cards in the same order.
The next step would be turning over the cards. Do this side to side so that you do not reverse the card. Explain what each card means in it's position as well as what it means on it's own. Only turn the next card once you are ready to focus on it.
To do the actual tarot card reading you will use your knowledge of the Tarot or a guidebook. Make sure to comment on what your understand of the meaning of the tarot cards are. If you're making use of a guidebook, don't just go by what it says, say whatever comes to mind. Do not ask any validation from your subject, just do the tarot card reading by saying what comes to mind. Don't over think what you are saying.
Once you have given your interpretation of the tarot cards, speak to your subject and ask if they have anything they'd like to say about it. You might want to go into more detail about some of the cards that are specific to their circumstances.
After you have received feedback, do the tarot reading again in a way that is specific to a situation the subject mentioned. Create a story that you can tell by tying in all the cards in front of you. Explain it as clearly as you can, taking all themes together.
While doing the tarot reading focus on the positive aspects of the cards. Make sure to mention that nothing is set in stone and action taken by the subject can change the situation. If there are any negative aspect to a card reading, let the subject know they are the master of their own destiny and they can change the situation.
